It's been a while since my last blog post due to the fact that I have been running around like a chicken with its head cut off. Sorry for the visual. But it's true.
Summer time normally conjures up images of lounging peacefully on back porch swings with nothing to do but lazily watch the fireflies as they spark up and float on by while sipping on your perfectly brewed iced tea. That is what I envision when I think of summer. Like totally.
But not my precious offspring.
No. That is not how they're brains work. Not even close.
My two darlings, the two extreme male species I live with on a daily basis have no earthy idea whatsoever that summer is for relaxing and doing nothing. In fact they think summer is all about non-stop action. They think it's a time for skateboarding, swimming and going ninety miles per hour until your ears fall off.
Go figure.
So I've been a little busy. Sorta. And I'm tired. Not in that particular order.
But here 's what happened a few weekends ago.
The YMCA/ Franklin Skate Shop/ Whole Foods Skate Competition.
The boys decided to enter it again this year. It was hot. So hot that my cell phone died from the heat and the horn in my SUV shorted out. But not before the horn went off continuously for approximately ten minutes while sitting at a stop sign. No it wasn't an uncomfortable situation at all. Thanks for asking.
Anyway, it was very hot. Look at Mo and his buddies sitting here sweating profusely. Poor little punks.
But you know what they say... If you can stand the heat stay out of the skatepark. At least I think that's what they say.Anyway... the competition. The boys entered this one last year and decided to go for it again.
Mo and Austin and their buddies layed all their best skate trick's out on the table or rather out on the skate ramps.
Mo wall dropped.
Austin spine transferred.
They tail-stalled. I think. (bear with me please The Sideline mom is still learning)
And just plumb worn themselves out in the heat. It was nearly a hundred degrees.
After all tricks were accounted for, skate style's studied and the score's were tallied here is where they landed.
Morgan took 1st place this year. From the look on his face you can tell he was so overjoyed that he was just plain goofy at that point.
For the remainder of the day he kept saying " Mom I really can't believe I won FIRST PLACE"!
All day long.
Austin we believe (although we have not gotten a final on this yet) came in 4th place.
And was very pleased with his efforts out there. And we were extremely happy for him.
With as much and as hard as these guys work out there at this skateboarding stuff I really feel that the hard work payed off this time. But more than anything they gave it all they had with good attitudes and had a whole lot of fun doing it.
I could not ask for more than that.
I am one grateful Sideline mom.
Now they are off to skate camp this week.
More stories to come.
Until next time.
Over and out.
