I completely enjoy making delightful ones like this from The Pioneer Woman. So I made this. It's a fruit crisp and will not believe how good it is. Unless of course you make it also. It's comes from the glorious archives of The Pioneer Woman Cooks. And quite frankly it is the best peach crisp I've ever had. Quite frankly. Quite frankly it is. I like saying quite frankly.
You start with these beauties. Actually my peaches were looking a little sad so I knew I needed to use them quick. They were fading fast. Ever had that happen to your peaches? Don't worry if they are not perfect on the out side she's says to peel them anyway. So that is just what I did.
I peeled away. Then I diced. Then I added some (real) maple syrup.
And I added the lemon zest.
Then came this. It's the stuff that makes the world go round. It is. Don't argue with me now.
You must make the crumbly stuff for the crisp. It's mandatory. That word use to scare me in high school. Like, it was mandatory that I take AND participate in gym class. Frightening. And it was mandatory that I learn the boring history facts in Mr. Protzman's class or I would fail big time. This scared me. I hated history back then.
Now I love that word. Especially when it pertains to butter. Butter is mandatory in peach crisp recipe's. Now that I like.
Onward.
Flour.
More sugar.
Then these. Two of my favorites.
Then crumble. I like to use my hands. Pastry cutter's are for sissy's. I'm just joking. Sorry.
Then go ahead and distribute that all over the top of those pretty peaches.
Completely.
Bake the lovely concoction. Then make a to-do list and sit down and read it while laughing at how long it is.
Or do this instead. I suggest this.
Take these 3 items.
Put the measured ingredients in a pan.
Then warm it til it's thick.
When I first tasted this cream sauce I thought what in the heck is this stuff?! I had no idea but it was the most delicious thing I have ever tasted. Why was I never told about this cream sauce? I felt very deprived eating peach crisp all these years without it.
Pour it in a pretty cream dish. It totally deserves it. Then let it chill in the fridge.
Then get these pretties out also. Especially if you need a little order and beauty in your life. And just look upon the delicate nature of the china for a few minutes. Notice how the cup and dish are not dirty, grungy, shredded, or smelly. How they provide just a little escape from the reality of a noisy excitement filled life with boys. I love my boys. So very dearly. It's just nice to have a little quiet moment every once in awhile. That is all.
Then take this out of the oven. Oh gracious!
Then do this.
Then this.
Until it looks like this.
Then pour a cup of this.
And if you're feeling really nutty like I was on this particular day do this.
And before you know it. You'll be here.
"Amazing peach crisp, you have saved me in every way that a person can be saved." Name that movie.
And there you have it. the best peach crisp with cream sauce I have ever had.
Go make it quick.
You wont regret it. Promise.
The SLM.
