This guy just had a birthday. Last friday!
Like totally!
He is now nine!
Nine! We are nearly to double digits!
I'm trying to figure out where the time has gone. Seriously. I'm almost certain that it was just yesterday that I was bringing home this little nine pound, two ounce bundle of boy and wondering what in the world he would be like.
Nine years later here we are!
I didn't know that he would be this child who lives for a challenge. (yes that is him jumping off a set of eight stairs below)
I didn't know then that he would love to skateboard as much as he does and that he would just love hanging with his buddies.
I didn't know that by the age of nine he would have already broken both feet, one arm and have his appendix rupture and removed after a two week hospital stay and that most days he would walk around with no less than fifteen bruises and scrapes on his shins and elbows.
And I also didn't know that he would be the one with the most beautiful blue eyes his mother has ever seen or that he would be the one who tells me "You look so beautiful Mom"! every time I come down the stair's after getting dressed for the day.
Who could have known he would love Tech Decks, Dippin Dots, hangin at the Franklin skateshop, SpongeBob, Spitfire Wheels, mini mega ramps, and his brother as much as he does. (not in that particular order)
But he does.
That is him. At nine years of age
I really didn't know any of that nine years ago. But I do now. And for all that and for everything else he has brought to my life and most of all for the person he is helping me become I really have no words to express how grateful I am for this child.
Really and truly.
Happy Birthday to my little dude!
Over and out.
The SLM
Happy Birthday dude. Enjoy. Im with you on the broken bones...break them NOW when you are young...doesn't get any better when you are in your 20s+. Keep skating, play hard, and never let anyone tell you that "you can't", because you can.
